Carpenter’s Helper

Job Description
W.S. Morgan Construction requires a junior carpenter/carpenter’s helper for construction projects in North Bay. Preference will be given to local applicants. Experience is preferred. Fabricate and prepare various wood, composition and plastic structures, painting, and fixtures for installation

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

Working under the direction of the Site Supervisor and/or Senior Carpenter, you will:
• Cut, shape, and assemble wood and/or various materials with shop tools and equipment such as planers, jointers, shaper, routers, sanders, and various power saws.
• Assemble and/or prepare components for Industrial, Commercial and Institutional projects
• Planning, shaping and sanding; using hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, sketches, and shop drawings for milling and fabrication.
• Maintain and clean equipment and work area.
• Perform work of carpenter as assigned
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Trade school or equivalent, experience is an asset
• Knowledge of shop practices and skill in using shop tools and equipment.
• carpentry and cabinet making
• Ability to read blueprints and translate into fabricated products
• Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform related duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy lifting
• other duties as required
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license if required

Physical Demands:

• Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to transport construction materials, drawings and communications as required
• Ability to use stairs, ladders and climb over rough terrain
• Anticipate project related travel
• Ability to operate from head office, project sites and variable work locations
• Ability to perform construction responsibilities throughout all four seasons

W.S. Morgan Construction requires a Carpenter for construction projects in Parry Sound. Preference will be given to local applicants. Experience is preferred. Fabricate and prepare various wood, composition and plastic structures, and fixtures for installation

 

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cut, shape, and assemble wood and/or various materials with shop tools and equipment such as planers, jointers, shaper, routers, sanders, and various power saws.
  • Assemble and/or prepare components for Industrial, Commercial and Institutional projects
  • Prepare structures for finish applications by planning, shaping and sanding; using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, sketches, and shop drawings for milling and fabrication.
  • Prepare materials estimates as directed
  • Determine type and dimensions of wood and/or materials to be used.
  • Maintain and clean equipment and work area.
  • Perform work of carpenter as assigned
  • May act as Lead Carpenter in absence of Lead Carpenter or Supervisor.
  • Direct work of workers as assigned
  • Perform related duties as assigned

  • Trade school graduation or equivalent, with experience as finish carpenter/cabinet maker an asset
